Safety audit launched after girl dragged by bus

An 8-year-old girl in New York is pulled about 900 feet when her backpack gets caught in a closing school bus door, according to police. The driver is put on administrative leave, and the district begins an investigation of the incident and an audit of its transportation safety procedures.

Students raise funds for much-needed bus

Project LIVE aims to take its special-needs students beyond the walls of their high school and into the community, but the program faced a challenge: It had no vehicle of its own to transport the students. Starcraft completes 25,000th bus

The school and shuttle bus manufacturer reached the milestone earlier this month when Creative Bus Sales in Chino, Calif., took delivery of the bus for Nevada RTC. President of Starcraft Bus and Federal Coach David Wright presents an award to Tony Matijevich, owner and president of Creative Bus Sales, to commemorate the event.

Navistar names new marketing exec

Kathy Seegebrecht will serve the company as vice president, marketing, for the global bus division. Seegebrecht, who previously served as vice president, marketing, for Navistar’s parts group, replaces David Hillman.

Trans Tech makes GSA’s list of approved vendors

The school bus manufacturer passes all U.S. General Services Administration testing standards and is placed on the list of approved vendors. Trans Tech can now sell its buses directly to federal agencies across the country.

Huntington Coach receives $50K fleet equipment grant

The National School Transportation Association and Zonar Systems co-sponsor the grant, and it was presented to the school bus contractor during the association’s recent Mid-Winter Meeting. Company officials say the money will be used to finish installing GPS technology from Zonar on its fleets.
